Charity, compassion and a commitment to quality guide St. Bernard Hospital’s mission to bring the best medical care to its patients. As a community hospital founded by the Religious Hospitallers of St. Joseph, we’ve met the unique health care needs of Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood for more than a century. We offer a diverse mix of inpatient and outpatient medical services at our 210-bed hospital and Professional Pavilion, as well as throughout the community. Our efforts to make health care as accessible as possible include our Pediatric Mobile Health Unit and a number of conveniently located doctor’s offices.
In addition to achieving The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™, St. Bernard has received multiple accolades for our exceptional medical care, including the HealthGrades 2011 Emergency Medicine Excellence Award™. We have also achieved the HealthGrades Five-Star rating for cardiac care, pulmonary care and critical care. St. Bernard works continuously to improve our quality of care, ensure patient satisfaction and cement our reputation as a center of health care excellence in our community.
We’ve achieved our high level of quality through a number of programs designed to keep patients safe and improve their health outcomes. St. Bernard uses an electronic documentation system to track patients’ test results, diagnoses and prescriptions in real time, and computers in each inpatient room make accessing vital information quick and easy. Our safety measures include barcode-enabled bedside medication verification and a secure tracking system for newborns in our birthing department. State-of-the-art equipment, including a digital mammography unit and 128-slice CT system in our radiology department and modern, comprehensive laboratories, further bolsters St. Bernard’s ability to provide comprehensive and effective medical care.
