St. Bernard Hospital Earns Second Consecutive ‘A’ Grade for patient safety from The Leapfrog Group Safety-net Hospital Continues Its Commitment to Safe, Quality Care
CHICAGO, Ill. (November 6, 2023) – – St. Bernard Hospital today announced its second consecutive “A” grade for patient safety from The Leapfrog Group, an organization known for its data-driven approach to enhancing healthcare quality and safety.
The hospital’s second A grade comes as a result of a continued focus on infection prevention, safe delivery of medication and other services, hand hygiene and other key safety practices. The hospital remains an advocate for additional resources to help it and other safety-net hospitals make continuous investments in patient safety and quality care.
“Receiving a second ‘A’ grade from leapfrog is no small feat,” said Charles Holland, president and CEO of St. Bernard Hospital. “A single infection, medication error or pressure ulcer can affect our grade. Our staff’s steady and consistent commitment to safe care processes, such as our hand hygiene initiative, helped earn this recognition.”
Since earning its first A grade, the hospital has attracted an in-kind donation of $100,000 worth of disinfection technology from Surfacide, LLC. Also, St. Bernard Hospital has consulted with The Leapfrog Group to enhance patient safety measures.
St. Bernard Hospital continues its mission of providing quality care to all patients, regardless of their ability to pay. The new ‘A’ results from the culture of safety that the hospital is building for patients and their families.
