Vice President Nursing Services
“Every day that I enter St. Bernard’s doors I see potential; in our patients, our staff and our Hospital. My role as a leader here is to unearth and nurture that potential.”
Evelyn Jones has been a champion for excellence in patient care at St. Bernard Hospital for over 35 years. In her current role as Vice President for Nursing Services, she is responsible for planning, directing and evaluating all nursing functions for the Hospital and its Ambulatory Care Center (ACC).
As a hospital administrator, Ms. Jones ensures that the Hospital is in compliance with the governmental regulations. She is also responsible for standardizing nursing processes and procedures to drive consistency in clinical care and patient experience.
Ms. Jones joined the Hospital as a registered nurse on a medical unit and over her 30 plus year career has held a number of positions from Hospital nursing instructor to Director of Nursing. With a laser focus on quality, Jones has implemented numerous safety initiatives resulting in better patient outcomes and higher Hospital quality rankings.
Most notably, Jones was instrumental in the opening of the Prenatal Women’s Wellness Clinic in 2010, established to address the high rate of mothers that delivered babies at the Hospital with no prenatal care. The goal of the clinic was to provide care to women of child bearing age. Nine years later the Hospital has seen a significant decrease in the number of expectant mothers presenting with no prenatal care and has expanded the services in that clinic to include women of all ages by adding Gynecological services. In 2016 supported by the Women’s Wellness team, Ms. Jones hosted the first Community Baby Shower. What started as a celebration for about 40 of their patients has grown into an annual event for a minimum of 120 community mothers. This celebration brings together expectant moms and provides them with essential gifts such as portable cribs, strollers and car seats. In addition mons received education on safe sleep, breast feeding, and nutrition to support them on their journey as new moms.
Ms. Jones holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing as well as a Masters in Business Administration from Olivet Nazarene University. All who know her knows that she is passionate about Breast Cancer research and finding happy homes for rescue dogs through P.A.W.S.
