Inpatient Medical Detox Unit
St. Bernard’s inpatient medical detox program is an important element of the comprehensive services offered by the Behavioral Health Department. The program treats adults, 21 and over suffering from addiction to heroin or alcohol by managing their withdrawal, educating them about addiction and recovery, and connecting then with long-term addition treatment and supportive services.
With the belief that substance abuse can be successfully treated, patients receive assistance with multiple issues related to their addiction and overall well-being. Our unit is designed to promote access to staff 24/7 and to promote patient comfort during the withdrawal process. The program conducts intake 6 days per week between 8:00am and 11:00pm. Patients needing care for additional medical conditions (such as diabetes) receive coordinated, high quality medical care from the medical team.
Comprehensive discharge planning is a hallmark of St. Bernard’s Medical Detox program. We provide coordinated transition to residential or outpatient services that enable patients to progress in their recovery.
